Radegast 2.0 Release

The Radegast Development Team is proud to announce the immediate availability of Radegast version 2.0.

This release brings the 3D Scene Viewer that allows users to see the 3d worlds around them. Most of the object rendering features are implemented and functional, including the support for showing regular prims, sculpies and meshes, but one should keep in mind that this is still very experimental and might cause crashes. Known issues include: not entirely correct avatar rendering, no support for glow or flexible prims. If you do encounter problems please do report them in our issue tracker.

In addition to the Scene Viewer, Radegast 2.0 comes with the support of the new avatar physics wearable type. There is also a crash reporter that will ask you to submit the crash reports should something unexptected happen. We encourage you to submit those reports as they make the future releases of Radegast better.

    Greetings,

Great job on the new viewer :D For people on a slow connection or that cannot run SL for whatever reason, this is great. The 3D scene gives a nice idea about what is around you when you want to get a visual idea.

Just wanted to say good job and congrats on the new version :D

Well indeed is wonderfull that finaly exist an escenary for radegast the strange part for me is that i can open 2 heavy viewers at same time in my pc and normal, but if i log in in radegast and i try to use the 3D scene i crash :s.
So i dunno why that diference in my experience looks like radegast viewer is most heavy that other 2 big viewers :<

This is great! Thanks to you I have found my favorite SL text-based viewer! I am especially excited about the AI and am now exploring the TTS plugin. Do you have any suggestions?

The 3-D option is also a great idea! I haven’t gotten it to work on my Mint 10 computer yet, but i will keep trying.

For Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) — If the scene viewer puts up a blank screen, look in the log for:

19:05:23 [WARN]: - : An exception was thrown by the type initializer for OpenTK.Graphics.GraphicsMode
19:05:23 [ERROR]: - : Failed to initialize OpenGL control, cannot continue

To cure this error, install the libx11-dev package.

Hello, thank you for great new release!

I have one question about interaction with objects via 3D View. Some SL objects contain only one prim, but action depend on where you click it. Looks like right now impossible to click at specified location (for example to activate menu, turn it on/off etc.). Do you have plans to add ability to interact with such objects?

Also in 3D View some Sculpies have wrong texture align same Sculties looks fine in 3D Scene.

Yeah, Radegast does not support sending the exact location of clicks to prims yet. It can tell which prim is clicked but not where on the prim. We might take a stab at implementing this in one of the future versions, but it’s a non-trivial task.

It’s 2011, and I cannot mute others on voice with this viewer yet.
